We are born to eternal happiness...

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

-St. Francis of Assisi

This familiar prayer that comes from St. Francis of Assisi holds the secret to complete happiness and joy. Giving of ourselves. The secret is to empty ourselves of the wordly desires of self love and materials. Then fill our lives with giving, born from supernatural love and graces that comes from God alone. When we do this, we beckon God to fill our souls with himself, which is complete happiness and love by definition. This is the beatific vision which encompasses the whole of human experience of joy, and happiness coming from seeing God finally face to face. It is called beatific because it produces happiness in the will and the whole being. It is in dying to ourselves, that we are born to eternal happiness...
